This research analyzes the perspectives of U.S. citizens on immigration during the current Trump presidency. Its purpose is to determine whether the administration's focus on national security, coupled with the securitization of immigration, aligns with the common understanding of this issue today. This mixed-methods study combines a survey of 48 U.S. citizens with two in-depth interviews. The results reveal significant differences across age groups and political affiliations. Younger participants tended to view immigration from a humanitarian perspective and in terms of its economic benefits to the country, while older participants focused more on issues such as border control, national security, and the perception that immigration brings disorder to the country.

Esta investigación analiza la perspectiva de los ciudadanos estadounidenses sobre la inmigración durante la presidencia actual de Trump. El propósito es averiguar si el enfoque del gobierno en la seguridad nacional, junto con la securitización de la inmigración, coincide con el entendimiento común de este tema hoy. El enfoque de esta investigación, basado en métodos mixtos, combina una encuesta realizada a cuarenta y ocho ciudadanos estadounidenses con dos entrevistas a profundidad.
